One day, a Buddha was walking from one town to another with a few of his followers.

While they were roaming, they passed by a lake. They rest there and Buddha asked one of his student to get him some water from the lake.

A student walked up to lake. When he reached it, he noticed some people were washing clothes in the water and a bullock cart started journey through the lake.

Because of it, the water became very muddy and dirty. The student thought, how I can give an unclean water to Buddha to drink!

So he returned back and told Buddha, the water of the lake is muddy and I don’t think it is right to drink.

After some time, Buddha again asked the same student to go back to the lake and get him some water.

The student respectfully went back to the lake. This time he observe  that the mud had got down and the water was clean so he got some in pot and brought it to Buddha.

Buddha see the water and then looked up at the student and said, “See what you did to make the water spotless. You let it be and the mud got down on its own. It is also the same with your thoughts. When it is in troubled, just let it be. Give it a little time and it will settle down on its own.”
